Garage Door Tune-Up — Quiet, Smooth Operation

One visit covers lubrication, hardware tightening, balance check, and opener adjustment.

Is your garage door making more noise than it used to? A tune-up addresses the common wear points that cause noise, vibration, and sluggish operation before they become bigger problems.

When a Tune-Up Makes Sense

  • Door has become noisier over the past few months
  • Rollers or hinges squeak when the door moves
  • Door vibrates or shakes slightly during operation
  • Chain or belt on the opener looks loose or misaligned
  • You just moved into a home and don't know the door's history
  • You had a full maintenance done 6 months ago and want an interim tune
  • You're preparing to sell — a smooth, quiet door is a subtle curb-appeal signal

Why a Tune-Up Isn't Just Cosmetic

Most garage door noise comes from friction — dry rollers, unlubricated hinges, chain drives running without oil. Left alone, that friction wears components 3–5× faster than a properly lubricated system, and heat from friction is a leading cause of premature opener failure.

The tune-up also checks door balance. A properly balanced door — one that stays put when raised halfway with the opener disconnected — puts almost no load on the opener. An out-of-balance door forces the motor to work against the spring imbalance every cycle, and that's the fastest way to burn out a $500 opener.

What Affects Tune-Up Cost

A flat-rate service for most residential doors. Cost depends on:

Standard versus custom door
Standard single or double doors are quick. Wood, oversize, or high-lift doors take longer.
Number of doors
Multi-door service saves per-door labor.
Add-on repairs
If we find a worn part during the tune, we'll quote the fix before doing it.
Bundled with maintenance
Sometimes a full annual maintenance is a better value than a standalone tune-up. We'll say so if it applies.
